Oceanside

Oceanside is a small coastal village located in Oregon’s Three Capes Scenic Loop, which consists of Cape Lookout, Cape Meares, and Cape Kiwanda. It is found in Tillamook County and is just 45 miles from Cannon Beach. Bird watchers flock to the Oceanside Three Arch Rocks National Wildlife Refuge located seventeen miles off the shore of Oceanside. It is the oldest wildlife refuge in the United States.

It consists of seventeen acres of rock islands that are the nesting place for large numbers of birds and other wildlife. Oceanside is a quiet town with a beautiful landscape along the Oregon Coast. Its beach is not crowded and ideal for beachcombing, kite flying, exploring tide pools, parasailing, and sea kayaking. Or you can just sit on the shore and enjoy the sun. Winter time is the perfect time to go agate hunting in Oceanside when the sand is stripped away by the ocean current. What’s great about the Oceanside Beach State Recreation Site is that it doesn’t charge any fee for day-use. It has public restrooms and easy access to the beach.

The town has several restaurants along the coast that can provide the right ambiance for a romantic dinner with your significant other. There are taverns as well if you want to have fun night out with friends or with the friendly local folks. Oceanside has the ideal climate for year round fun. Summer in the north coast region of Oregon is cool while winter is moderate. Westerly winds come from the northwest in summer and from the southwest during winter. These winds bring fog during summer and heavy rainfall in winter. Oceanside experiences dry summers, wet winters and mild temperatures throughout the year.

You will need to rent a car from any of the airports to get to Oceanside.
